Mold Found Inside Popular Teething Toy Sophie the Giraffe
Parents all over the country are taking to the Internet to spread awareness of a dangerous, defective teething toy known as “Sophie the Giraffe.”
The creators of the defective toys boast that Sophie the Giraffe is a safe teething option for toddlers, since the product is made from 100% natural rubber derived from Hevea trees, but the fact that mold has been found in many of these defective toys proves otherwise.
Defective Toys
Parents are making their voices heard from enraged social media posts to negative, critical Amazon reviews about the mold they found in these defective toys.
“Beware if you have a drooling baby, because moisture will get in the hole and it will be covered in black mold,” says upset Amazon customer Stephanie Oprea.
Health Officials Comment on Defective Toys
Parents are not the only ones complaining about the dangerous defective toys. Health professionals, such as pediatrics, are advising parents and consumers alike to stop using these defective toys.
“There was a musty smell coming out of my child’s Sophie the Giraffe toy, so I decided to cut it open out of curiosity and I found a ‘science experiment’ living in my son’s toy. Smelly ugly mold was living in my child’s teething toy,” says pediatric dentist Dr. Dana Chianese.
The Creators of the Defective Toys Speaks Out
“We urge consumers in the instructions of Sophie the Giraffe to clean the toy with a damp cloth,” says spokesperson Laurie Schraenen. “It should not be immersed in the water nor rinsed off…we would like to emphasis that while cleaning, no water should go inside the hole.”
What to Do If You Own a Defective Toy
If you or a loved one own a Sophie the Doll or any other defective toys or product, you must stop using it at once.
If there is a recall, you may bring the dangerous toy back to the store you bought it at for reimbursement.
If you or a loved one suffered injury or contradicted a disease from a defective toy, keep the toy, but place it in an area where it cannot affect anyone else.
Next, find and save the receipt or invoice of the defective toy if possible. You should also write down and document the experiences you and your loved ones had with the defective product and how the defective toy brought you all pain and suffering.
Once you have all of this information and evidence collected, it is a good idea to contact a personal injury lawyer that specializes in dangerous, defective toys and products.
An experienced product defect attorney will be able to tell you if you are entitled to compensation from the information and evidence you present and will help you get the compensation you deserve.
