Massive Recall of Pacifier and Teether Holders for Choking Hazards
A product defect recall has been issued for about 600,000 Dr. Brown’s Lovey pacifier and teether holders after it was determined that they could pose choking hazards. According to a USA Today news report, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said the recall applies to 590,000 holders along with 10,500 sold in Canada. The holders, which were sold in eight different animal shapes including zebras, giraffes and turtles have a snap, which could detach from the pacifier’s ribbon, posing a choking hazard for young children.

The manufacturer has not reported any injuries, but they have received 67 reports of the ribbon fraying and the snap detaching. Health Canada, that country’s health agency, got two complaints and no reports of injuries. Anyone who bought one of these recalled holders, which were sold between August 2015 and March 2018, are asked to remove them from the reach of young children right away. - Keep toys for small children and other siblings in separate boxes or in different areas in your home. Encourage older siblings to keep their small toys out of reach. This may include Legos, beads, car parts, etc.
