Ford Recalls Vehicles for Safety and Compliance Issues

Ford has announced that it will recall more than 400,000 vehicles for safety and compliance issues. According to a CNBC news report, Ford issued one recall and two safety-compliance recalls affecting its 2015-2017 Transit van or bus vehicles. So far, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of these vehicles.

Recall Details

The Dearborn automaker said that in the affected vehicles, continuing to operate a vehicle with a cracked flexible coupling may cause the separation of the driveshaft resulting in a loss of motive power while driving or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, the separation of the driveshaft from the transmission can result in secondary damage to other components such as the brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation may also increase the risk of a crash or injury, the automaker said in a statement.

The Ford Transit vehicles affected by this recall were built in the company’s Kansas City assembly plant between January 17, 2014 and June 15, 2017. Ford also issued a safety compliance recall for four Police Interceptor Utility vehicles in the U.S. to repair second row seat attachment studs. A second safety compliance recall was issued for three Ford Escape vehicles in the U.S. to replace driver knee airbag modules.

Based on this news report, it appears that these vehicles were all recalled for serious safety issues and lack of compliance with vehicle safety laws.
