Ford Issues Three Safety Recalls For Dangerous Defects
Ford Motor Company has issued three safety recalls and one safety compliance recall for various vehicle safety defects.
The biggest recall covers 313,000 2003-2005 model-year Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles over an issue with a lighting control module.
Ford said the solder joints on the module could crack and interrupt power to the headlamps, which increases the risk of a crash at night.
So far, the automaker is aware of 11 reports of accidents and one report of a minor injury related to the issue.
These vehicles were apparently built at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant between October 2001 and August 2005.
Here are the other recalls:
177 2016 modes year F-650 and F-750 trucks to replace air brake chambers. The air brake jounce hoses in these vehicles could contact the rear axle housing, which could diminish brake performance and increase the risk of a crash. So far, the manufacturer is not aware of any known crashes relating to this vehicle defect.
1,300 2015 Ford Transit dual-rear-wheel vehicles to replace rear axle shafts, which could fracture causing loss of motive power or unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
3,200 2015 Ford F-120 SuperCrew vehicles to replace the front safety belt retractor and pretentioner assembly. These defective seatbelts might fail to properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash.
In all recalls, dealers will replace the affected parts at no charge to the consumer.
Auto Product Liability Issues
While getting a vehicle recalled is no reason to panic, it is not the time to be apathetic either. Manufacturers are required to notify you by mail if they are issuing a recall. If you have not been contacted, confirm that your car is affected by contacting the manufacturer, or by visiting the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) site, safercar.gov.
You can check by using your vehicle identification or VIN.
If you have been injured by a defective vehicle, please contact an experienced auto product liability attorney who will help you seek and obtain compensation for your injuries, damages and losses.
