Colorado Meat Processor Recalls About 25,000 Pounds of Beef for E. Coli Contamination
Cargill Meat Solutions is recalling more than 25,000 pounds of ground beef over concerns that it might be contaminated with E. coli bacteria. According to a report in the Denver Post, the ground beef items were produced Aug. 16. Cargill is recalling 10-pound chubs of beef, which the company says, have been shipped to warehouses in California and Colorado.
The chubs are usually repackaged and distributed to retailers. The issue was discovered Aug. 22 during a record review. The company then notified the U.S. Department of Agriculture about the issue. Company officials say they don’t know of any illnesses associated with the products so far.
