Audi A7 Vehicles Recalled for Potential Airbag Failure
Volkswagen is recalling nearly 17,700 Audi A7 vehicles in the U.S. for a vehicle defect associated with their airbags. According to a report in The Car Connection, some of the recalled vehicles’ airbags may not deploy as intended in the event of a crash. The devices in question are the head curtain airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that because of the manner in which the airbags were manufactured, they may not deploy properly during a car accident. This may result in an increased risk of injury to an unbelted passenger in a crash where the head curtain airbag deploys.
Recall Details
This recall affects Audi A7 vehicles from the 2015, 2016 and 2017 model years. A total of 17,694 cars registered in the United States will need to be repaired. Owners of the vehicles will receive recall notices by mail around June 29, 2017. At that time, they will be able to take their A7s to Audi dealers who will replace the defective head curtain airbags at no charge. Consequences of Airbag Failure
When an airbag fails to work during a car accident, the consequences can be devastating. Vehicle occupants may suffer serious traumatic injuries including head injuries, spinal cord trauma, multiple broken bones and internal organ injuries. We count on airbags to protect in the event of a car accident, and when they fail to deploy, the consequences can be catastrophic or even fatal.
If you have been injured as the result of an airbag defect or some other defective auto product, you can file a product liability claim against the automaker or the manufacturer of the defective product. It is important that you preserve the vehicle for a thorough inspection by a qualified expert since the vehicle is the single, most important piece of evidence in these types of cases. The best auto product liability lawyers will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
