Nissan & BMW Recall Vehicles For Stalling Issues
Nissan & BMW Recall Vehicles For Stalling Issues
Nissan Motor Company and BMW AG are recalling more than 165,000 vehicles globally due to potential fuel pump failures that could cause an engine to stall or not start.
According to a Reuters news report, the affected vehicles include more than 95,000 Nissan Rogue SUVs in the U.S. and Canada from model year 2014 and 70,500 BMW cars worldwide from model years 2014 and 2015.
The automakers say nickel plating could detach and block moving parts in the vehicles’ fuel pumps manufactured by Robert Bosch. In such cases, it is likely that a vehicle will not start or end up stalling.
So far, no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of these safety defects.
In March 2014, Nissan identified an incident where a Rogue failed to start, while BMW noticed an increase in fuel pump warranty claims on certain vehicles in July 2014, according to the NHTSA documents.
When the recalls begin, dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly at no cost to consumers.
If Your Vehicle Stalls
Stalling vehicles can be extremely dangerous because if a vehicle stalls, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, leading to a potential crash.
When a vehicle stalls suddenly on a busy roadway or in the freeway where vehicles are traveling at higher speeds, there is the danger that other cars on the roadway may hit the stalled vehicle.
This could result in serious injuries or even fatalities.
If you own one of the vehicles included in this recall, it would be in your best interest to schedule an appointment with your dealer and get the necessary repairs made.
This is critical to the safety of you and your family.
