BISNAR CHASE joined hands with Second Harvest Food Bank and The Raise Foundation (located in Mission Viejo) to donate more than 9,600 pounds of food to those who needed it the most. The food giveaway took place the morning of September 22, 2012 in Laguna Hills. BISNAR CHASE sponsored a truck carrying a variety of food. About 155 families came through the line to collect food items ranging from juice, cookies and salad to cabbages, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, plums and pears. The food giveaway served approximately 632 people.

According to the Second Harvest Food Bank's statistics, which is based on the 2000 Census, 615,000 Orange County residents are at risk of hunger each month. More than 50 percent of those at risk are children and seniors. In 2009, Second Harvest's member agencies reported an average increase of 35 percent demand for food assistance. While food banks are usually well-stocked during the holidays when donations come pouring in, they are extremely short on donations during other times of the year especially in the summer and fall months, food bank administrators say.

"Our goal is to put food on people's tables so no one goes hungry," said John Bisnar, founder of BISNAR CHASE. "In today's tough economy where jobs are hard to come by, people are forced to choose between having a roof over their head, keeping the lights on and providing food for their families. We don't want them to have to choose. We want to make sure these people don't go hungry."

BISNAR CHASE sponsors bi-monthly food giveaways and has teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County on several occasions now. Bisnar is urging other individuals and businesses in the area to come forward and take a pledge to feed Orange County's hungry.

"This can be done in many ways," he says. "You don't have to be a company or a wealthy individual to contribute. In our opinion, it is a corporate responsibility as well as a personal one to do what we can to help those who are struggling to make ends meet. We have a responsibility to take care of each other.

BISNAR CHASE's sponsorship of the bi-monthly food pantries are a way of putting that responsibility into action. We encourage others to do the same."

Individuals who would like to help out during BISNAR CHASE's future events may email Danielle Olson of BISNAR CHASE at dolson(at)bisnarchase(dot)com. Businesses who would like to sponsor food giveaways are asked to visit the Second Harvest Food Bank's website at www.FeedOC.org to learn how to donate money, food and/or time.
