Possible Red Light Violation
Based on this news report, it appears that one of the drivers ran a red light at the intersection and struck two other vehicles causing some of the injuries. It is illegal to disregard a red light at an intersection. California Vehicle Code section 21453 (a) states: “A driver facing a circular red signal shall stop at the limit line before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection, and shall remain stopped until an indication to proceed is shown.”
Fault and Liability
When a driver runs a red light and causes a collision, that amounts to negligence and recklessness. Running a red light is a violation of the rules of the road. In addition to being cited, red light runners who cause accidents can also be held financially responsible for the injuries, damages and losses they cause. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost wages, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Anaheim personal injury lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
