Two Varieties of Bauers Candies Recalled for Hepatitis A Contamination
With just over a month to Valentine’s Day, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing a product defect recall for Bauer’s Candies sold on QVC and online because it could be contaminated with Hepatitis A. According to a WTOP news report, the agency is warning consumers not to eat any Bauer’s Candies Chocolate or Caramel Modjeskas purchased after Nov. 14. These are individually wrapped marshmallow candies dipped in chocolate or caramel.
A worker in the company’s Kentucky facility tested positive for hepatitis A. The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have not received any reports of hepatitis A related to the consumption of the candies. The FDA is working with Bauer’s Candies on a voluntary recall of the affected products. If you have eaten the recalled candies it might be in your best interest to consult your doctor.
Dangers of Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection that is caused by the hepatitis A virus.
