Thousands of Bicycles Recalled Due to Faulty Forks

More than 13,000 2018 model Allez road bikes by Specialized have been recalled because of defective forks. According to a report on Digitaltrend.com, no crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of these bicycle defects. The company states that the forks in these bicycles can break and cause the rider to lose control posing a serious crash hazard.

Recall Details

The specific bikes affected by the faulty forks are all 2018 Allez road racing bicycles including the base, Sport and Elite models. Each version’s composite fork has the brand name “Specialized” printed on its downtube, “Allez” on the bottom portion to each fork leg, and the word “Fact” printed on the inside of the left fork leg. To fix the issue, the manufacturer is urging anyone with a recalled bike to contact an authorized retailer to receive free installation of a new fork.

Specialized first caught these fork defects in December and has since provided monthly updates regarding the status of the recall and the production plan for replacing the forks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers who own these bikes to contact an authorized Specialized Retailer directly at 1-877-8088154 or email ridercare@specialized.com
