Got hit by a speeding loon while turning and he fled but cops were right there. Cops who talk to E!, apparently. Not a big deal. I’m good!

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman told Entertainment Tonight that Teigen was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit. The driver of the vehicle that struck Teigen’s car was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor hit-and-run. Teigen was not injured. Her husband was not present at the time of the collision.
Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Crashes
It is indeed fortunate that Teigen escaped this crash unscathed. Many others are not so fortunate. Numerous injuries and fatalities are reported in Los Angeles and statewide that involve hit-and-run drivers. Los Angeles is notorious as the “hit-and-run capital of the nation.”
NBC Los Angeles reported, based on California Highway Patrol’s statistics, that there were more than 28,000 reported hit-and-run crashes in 2015 involving hit-and-run drivers. About 50 percent of all incidents in Los Angeles County are hit-and-run cases. The national average is 11 percent, according to the American Automobile Association.
Leaving the Scene of a Crash
Under California Vehicle Code 20001 (a), leaving the scene of a hit-and-run crash is illegal. Motorists are required to stop immediately, wait for officials to arrive at the scene, exchange pertinent information with all parties involved and most importantly, get help for injured victims. When victims are injured in hit-and-run crashes, they often struggle to pay for medical expenses and other costs.
If you have been injured in a hit-and-run car accident, it is important that you contact an experienced Los Angeles car accident attorney who can help you receive compensation for your losses by going after the driver and his or her insurance company. If the driver has not been identified or apprehended, your attorney can advice you about how the uninsured motorist clause of your own auto insurance policy might apply to your case.
Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, pain and suffering and emotional distress. The best personal injury law firms will always offer a free consultation and comprehensive case evaluation to injured victims and their families.
