Specialized Bicycles Recalled Due to Fall and Injury Hazards

Specialized is recalling its Roubaix, Ruby, Diverge and Sirrus bicycles with steerer tube collars. According to a WHNT news report, the problem is that the bicycles’ steerer tube collar can crash if exposed to corrosion resulting in sudden loss of steering control. This could, of course, pose fall and injury hazards to the rider. The affected bicycles were manufactured in Taiwan and sold at authorized Specialized retailers nationwide from July 2016 to January 2019 for between $1,650 and $11,500.

These bicycles come in various colors and include S-works, Pro, Expert, Comp Elite, E5 Comp, Sport and Base models. So far, no injuries have been reported. However, the company has received two reports of the steerer tube collar cracking. Those who have these bicycles are asked to stop using them and contact an authorized Specialized retailer for a free repair.
