San Bernardino Bus Accident Causes Life-Threatening Injuries for Victims
A San Bernardino bus accident led to seven people injured and one in critical condition on May 8th, 2019. The San Bernardino personal injury lawyers at Bisnar Chase have been retained by a woman who suffered injuries in an omnibus versus car accident in San Bernardino. According to a news report in the San Bernardino Sun, the crash occurred near Sierra Way and Base Line Street the evening of May 8. The bus, operated by OmniTrans, was traveling east on Base Line Street when a car that was driving west on the same road veered into the bus’s path.
The Sun reports that fire personnel extricated a person from the car who was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Six people, including one woman, who were passengers on the bus, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The woman was transported via ambulance to an area hospital and is still receiving treatment for the critical injuries she sustained in this crash.
The Legal Aftermath of the San Bernardino Bus Accident
The firm is looking forward to fighting for the rights of this injured bus passenger, said Brian Chase, senior partner at Bisnar Chase.
“Bus accidents can be particularly brutal when it comes to injuries because passengers travel without any safety devices like seatbelts or airbags, which most vehicles are equipped with,” he said. “As a result bus passengers are thrown around or suffer blunt trauma injuries to the head, back or other parts of their body when they hit the inside of the bus.”
Chase said he would advise bus accident victims to take a number of steps in the aftermath of a crash including getting prompt medical attention, filing a report with a police, getting all possible information about the bus driver and the bus company and securing contact information for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or been with the injured passenger on the bus and seen him or her get injured.
“But getting medical attention right away is one of the most important steps you can take,” Chase said. “This not only gives you the best shot at recovering and getting better, but documents the types of injuries you may have sustained, the treatment you received and the type of ongoing care you’re going to need in the future.”
Chase said his greatest satisfaction in taking on these cases comes from the fact that he and his associates help injured victims get back on their feet after a traumatic event such as an auto accident.
“Getting your life back on track after an auto accident is often challenging,” he said. “You may not be able to work for a while. You’re in pain. Medical bills are piling up. Our job is to make our client’s lives a little easier so they can focus on their recovery and we can help guide them through a legal process that can be complex and intimidating.”
