Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Recalled for Suspension Defects
Mitsubishi is issuing an auto defect recall certain 2013 model year Outlander Sport crossover vehicles for a potential suspension issue that may lead to steering or braking problems. According to a news report in The Washington Post, the vehicles affected by this recall were built from January 17, 2013 through January 25 2013. According to a notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an improper weld on the front left strut stabilizer may fail causing damage to the brake hose or tire.
If this occurs, the driver could experience problems with steering or braking, both of which could increase the likelihood of the crash. Mitsubishi plans to notify owners and dealers who will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the front left strut assembly, if necessary, at no charge to consumers. Vehicle owners with questions or concerns are asked to contact Mitsubishi at 1-888-648-7820 or visit NHTSA’s web site at www.safercar.gov.
 Brake and Steering Issues
Both brake and steering failures can result in serious injury collisions. In addition to injuring the vehicle’s occupants, these types of auto defects can also cause injuries to pedestrians and drivers of other vehicles. Some of the common signs of brake failure include difficulty stopping, unusual noise from the brakes, pulling to one side, spongy brake pedal or low brake pedal pressure. Similarly, steering defects may result in the driver losing control of the vehicle and crashing.
 Auto Product Liability Issues
Anyone who has been injured as the result of a defective auto product would be well advised to preserve the vehicle in its current condition, unaltered, so that an expert can thoroughly examine it for defects, malfunctions, design flaws and other evidence. When an injury is caused by a defective auto, the automaker or the manufacturer of the faulty product can be held liable. Injured victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost wages, hospitalization, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Families of deceased victims can file a wrongful death claim seeking compensation as well. The best auto defect law firms will always offer a free consultation and case evaluation to victims and their families.
