Jenna Druck Foundation Aims to Help Those Who Have Lost
October 4, 2009, was the worst day in the life of Vivian Capozza. That day, she lost her 17-year-old son Alex who died in a car accident. Losing a child is quite possibly the hardest loss anybody can experience. Her immeasurable pain and suffering are incomprehensible to those of us that have never gone through such an unimaginable tragedy. Two days after the accident, Dr. Ken Druck walked through her door and would forever change her life.
Druck, an expert in helping families who have lost a child and his staff helped Vivian through her bereavement and preached a mantra of – one breath, one step, one day at a time. Druck also founded the Jenna Druck Center to continue his practice of helping tragedy-stricken families. The center is fully funded by charitable donations, and just last week held their second ever fund raising event at the Pacific Athletic Club. Last year, the event helped to raise $40,000 for the Alex Capozza “Pay it Forward” Tribute Fund.
Families Helping Families
The families helping families program helps those seeking emotional support and guidance during their darkest hours. Their services include support groups, education, community outreach, consultation and training. Dr. Druck and his staff are dedicated and committed to being a beacon of light to these devastated families. The compassionate workplace and classroom program is designed to fit the needs of families, schools, communities and organizations.
Spirit of Leadership
Spirit of Leadership is a year-round program that offers consistent exposure to positive and supportive leadership messages. Together teen participants and volunteer mentors learn how to create a safe space where girls and women practice supporting and celebrating each other. Sessions are compelling, inspirational and provide important skills that support the often difficult passage through adolescence. As girls participate through the year’s curriculum a community is formed and the results are transformational.
A Truly Heroic Cause
The legal team at Bisnar Chase is proud to support the Jenna Druck Center in this endeavor. No parent should have to bury their child, and anything that can be done to help families who have lost a loved one should be done with utmost care. Just remember – one breath, one step, one day at a time.
