Honda Recalls 437,000 Vehicles in the United States to Stalling and Fuel Pump Problems
Honda is issuing a vehicle defect recall for more than 437,000 vehicles in the United States to repair an issue with the fuel pumps that could cause the affected vehicles to stall. According to a report on MLive.com, the recalled vehicles include 2016-2018 Acura MDX, 2015-2019 Acura TLX, and the 2015-2017 Honda Accord equipped with the 3.5-liter V6 engine are included in the recall.
Details of the Recall
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), particles in fuel here in the U.S. could stick to internal components of the fuel pump, which could reduce its performance and lead to the stalling issues. Reduced fuel pump performance can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash. Once owners are notified, the automaker says the dealers will update the fuel injection control unit software and if necessary, replace the fuel pump at no cost to consumers. Honda has said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to this recall.
Affected owners should start getting notifications in the mail starting March 25. To search for active recalls, you can go to the NHTSA’s website and search your 17-character vehicle identification number. VINs are located under the driver’s side windshield or along the inside of the doors behind the seat or under the steering wheel. You can also sign up for NHTSA safety alerts by going to their website.
If Your Vehicle Has Been Recalled
Vehicle stalling can definitely be a serious problem. If your vehicle suddenly stalls on the freeway, it has the potential to expose you and passengers to significant hazards, including getting hit by other vehicles, which may not be able to slow down or stop in time to avoid a collision with the stalled vehicle. Such stalling can cause serious problems especially during nighttime when visibility can be limited.
