GM Recalls Vehicles for Defective Seats
General Motors is recalling select 2016 models of the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia for improperly manufactured seats that could pose a safety hazard. According to a report in the Christian Science Monitor, the problem with these vehicles lies in the third-row seat frame, a portion of which may have been welded in the wrong location. As a result the seat could shift or separate during a collision, increasing the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants. This recall is limited to 2016 models made between November 6 and November 12 in 2015.
When the recall begins, GM will send notices to owners asking them to take the vehicles to dealers for inspection. Dealers will look at the third row left side lower seat frame and replace it, if necessary, at no charge to consumers. If you own one of these recalled vehicles and have questions call 800-521-7300. You can also look at the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website at safercar.gov to get more information about this particular recall (safety campaign # 15V833000).
Dangerous Car Seats
Car seats are an important part of safety when you’re out on the road. If you have been involved in an accident, seat failure or seat back failure could result in catastrophic injuries or even death. Defective car seats are particularly dangerous in rollover crashes or rear impacts. If defective car seats contributed to the injuries you or your loved ones suffered, you may be eligible to receive compensation for your injuries, damages and losses. Injured victims of defective automobiles can seek compensation by filing a product liability claim against the automaker or the manufacturer of the defective part.
