What Caused This Crash?
Based on this news report, it appears that the truck plowed into the apartment complex after veering off the roadway. While officials say that the truck driver was not speeding at the time, there are still other important questions that arise here. Was the driver of the big rig under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs? Was he drowsy or fatigued? In other words, did he fall asleep at the wheel? Was he distracted at the time? Was there some type of defect or malfunction in the truck that caused it to go off the roadway?
Fault and Liability Issues
In this particular case, if the driver is determined to have been at fault, both he and his employer can be held liable for the injuries and damages caused. Victims can seek compensation for damages including medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, rehabilitation, permanent injuries, property damage, pain and suffering and emotional distress. Victims would also be well advised to contact an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer who has successfully handled truck accident cases.
